Here are some tips for using bold colors at a wedding reception:
Choose a bold and bright invitation Save the dates and wedding invitations incorporating bold colors will stand out and create a sense of excitement for your big day. Pantone describes its color of the year, Viva Magenta, as “brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration.” If that doesn’t describe a modern wedding, I don’t know what does! Other bright hues to choose from are fuchsia, teal, or orange. Choose a vibrant color scheme Taking a cue from your invitation, pair bold colors with a neutral base like white or ivory to make them pop. Repeat your signature color in a lighter or darker shade, or go wild and pair it with another bold color. For example, magenta goes beautifully with other pink tones and looks spectacular with yellow and turquoise. Incorporate color in the floral arrangements Flowers are a great way to incorporate bold colors into your reception décor. Use bright blooms like sunflowers, peonies, or dahlias to create stunning bridal bouquets and floral arrangements. Arrangements that include dark-to-light shades of a single color have a more refined look. Those that stick to deeper tones and add a few blossoms in a contrasting color have a lush and dramatic look. Use color in unexpected places Color can add interest and excitement to even the most traditional reception venue. Table linens and chair covers are a classic way to introduce more color into your reception. Brightly colored paper napkins are an inexpensive way to add color. But there are endless unique ways to incorporate bold colors. Use colorful backdrops to define different areas of the space, like the head table or a photobooth wall or behind the band or DJ. Use bright colors for your signage, or create a sitting area around a colorful rug. Add color with lighting Lighting can completely transform the look and feel of a wedding reception. Use colored lighting to add drama and create a unique atmosphere that complements your bold color scheme. Colored glassware filled with fairy lights or bright glass candlesticks can be the starting point for beautiful table decorations, and remember, candles don’t have to be white! Make a statement with your cake Your wedding cake is an opportunity to make a bold statement with color. Consider a cake with brightly colored fondant or sugar flowers that match your reception color scheme, or go all out and decorate with a cascade of bright blooms. Balance is the key Use bold colors to make a statement, but incorporate plenty of white or neutral hues to create a cohesive look. With the right balance, your wedding reception will be a celebration of color and style that your guests will never forget.

This wedding was a perfect blend of Southern country charm with a big splash of glitz and glam at the Rosehill Plantation in Nashville, North Carolina. This stunning estate offered the perfect back drop for a dreamy and romantic wedding, complete with a horse drawn carriage, gorgeous floral arrangements, and all the shades of blush and pinks you could ever want. The Theresa Jatko team designed a beautiful custom monogram for the couple that was carried through the entire wedding, including the invitation suite, the dance floor, menus and napkins in pink, gold and cream. We started with wedding invitation suite, which contained an oversized gatefold invitation, layered with shiny gold metallic stock, all nestled together within a thermography and gold foil printed invitation. Their insert cards were layered and then nestled into the custom pocket we designed into the back of gatefold. Every suite was then hand tied together with a beautiful satin ribbon and addressed with computer calligraphy. Finally, we sealed every envelope with their monogram in gold wax. Thanks to JP Pratt Photography, you can see the entire suite in today's post. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the horse drawn carriage that whisked Sydney and Cameron away from the ceremony in style, while adding some old world charm to the afternoon. The carriage was beautifully decorated with flowers and ribbons, and the gentle clip-clop of the horse's hooves added to the romantic atmosphere. The floral draped cross at the ceremony was gorgeous, creating a stunning focal point with the lush arrangement of blooms dripping down. I am sure all the guests were blown away with its beauty. The reception space was equally stunning, with lush draping of blush and pink. The custom dance floor was the perfect place for the bride and groom to share their first dance, and guests danced the night away in style. And what's a summer southern wedding without some sweet treats? Pina Coladas were served during cocktail hour, adding a touch of tropical flair to the day. But perhaps the most magical moment of the evening were the surprise fireworks display over the pond. Guests gathered outside to watch the dazzling show, which was the perfect end to a perfect evening. As the fireworks lit up the sky, the bride and groom looked on in awe, surrounded by their loved ones. You can see even more about this wedding on Southern Bride and Groom Magazine. We are so honoured that they decided to feature this wedding on their blog. The wedding invitation suite contained an oversized gatefold invitation, layered with gleaming gold metallic stock. The invitation was further enhanced with a combination of thermography and gold foil printing. Her insert cards were artfully layered and then nestled into the custom pocket we crafted into the back of gatefold. Every suite was then delicately tied together with a gorgeous satin ribbon and addressed with computer calligraphy. Finally, we added a touch of elegance by sealing each envelope with the couple's monogram in gold wax. I have had the pleasure of creating all sorts of beautiful and unique wedding stationary over the years, and a recent unique one has come to mind. The groom at this wedding is a police officer and that inspired us to create a custom watercolour crest that included a badge shaped shield. This crest was used throughout the wedding stationary, the menus, and escort cards. It was a subtle but beautiful nod to the groom’s important work and added a touch of personalised elegance to the wedding. We also worked closely with the florist to incorporate the same beautiful flowers into the invitations, menus and signs as well. All the vendors working together we were ensured that everything tied in perfectly together, with the overall decor and theme of the wedding. Personalisation is always important in wedding stationary, and we took it a step further by creating personalised guest menus. Each menu was printed with the guest’s name and their pre-selected entree from their RSVP card. This added a thoughtful and personal touch to the wedding, and the guests were impressed with this attention to detail. To welcome guests to the wedding, we created a beautiful 24x36 welcome sign. This sign featured the same custom watercolour crest that we had used throughout all the stationary. The sign was a stunning focal point right at the entrance of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church as well as at the Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Both venues were stunning, and we made sure everything we designed reflected the elegance of each location. *Thank you to La Cosa Bella Events for these Behind the Scenes iPhone photos. As part of the event industry, we are no strangers to hard work, long hours, and meticulous attention to detail. And every year, we look forward to the NACE Triangle of Excellence Awards Gala, a night where our efforts are recognized and celebrated by our peers and industry leaders. This year it was held at the Merrimon-Wynne House in Raleigh, and the gala filled the grounds. It was the largest attendance to date. This year, we had the honor of not only attending but also contributing as a sponsor and being a part of the planning committee. It was an incredible experience, and we were thrilled to see the best of the best in our industry receive the recognition they deserved. But what made this year’s gala particularly special was the that this year we… we won the award for the best group effort at an event. It was the icing on the cake, or so we thought. Little did we know that the most significant recognition of the night was yet to come. Our chapter president, Mr. Lyn Graves of Fresh Affairs, announced that he wanted to present the New Member of the Year Award personally. And when he began to speak of the detail, creativity, and care, his words were like a song. We were humbled and honored when he called the founder and owner of our company, Theresa Jatko to accept the award. It was a moment that we will never forget, and still can’t fully describe what his words meant to us, Derek, Theresa's husband who has always supported the business and our team. But what we can say is that we are forever grateful for this opportunity and to create amazing events that turn into memories for our clients. We are blessed to have grown friendships with incredible vendors, and our heart are full of gratitude for our clients and industry peers who allow us to do what we love. In addition to the amazing recognition we received at this year’s NACE Gala, we also received some exciting news. I am thrilled to announce that I have been named gala chair for next year’s event. It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead the planning committee and contribute to future galas, and will do our very best to fill Alyssa’s shoes. I am excited to work alongside and incredible team of industry professionals and create an event that celebrates the hard work and dedication of our peers. As we reflect on this year’s gala and look forward to the next years, we are reminded of the importance of community, collaboration, and the power of coming together to create something truly special. We will continue to work hard to raise the bar and create beautiful memories together and we are so excited to share all the incredible moments and details from the Gala here. I know that I will look back at these photos again and again. In the meantime, let us bask in the memories of a night that will always hold a special place in our hearts. I can't imagine any place more perfect than a destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico. While planning a destination wedding has it's challenges, our amazing couple and team were definitely up for the challenge. The couple's invitations set the tone for the big day, a luxury letterpress Ecru 100% cotton stock. Ginger and taupe inks, a sweet silk ribbon with a beautifully designed wax seal featuring delicate tropical flowers and elegant script. When guests arrived to the church, they were greeted with timeless elegance to the ceremony. Later, the guests were awed by the gorgeous reception venue, with amazing flowers everywhere. From the stunning peony bouquet carried by the bride to the centrepieces on every table, the wedding was dripping with beauty. As the couple took to the dance floor, a traditional mariachi band played behind them, adding fuel to the energy of the day! After, the guests found their place with amazing glass place cards with white calligraphy, leading them to their tables with antique glass and gold details. The cigar bar was definitely a highlight to the evening, where guests could relax and enjoy a smoke while sipping on the delicious cocktails. The Merrimon-Wynne House is a beautiful historic venue in Raleigh, and it was the perfect setting for this stunning wedding. The couple chose a blush and gold color scheme, which created and elegant and romantic atmosphere that perfectly complemented the venue's classic charm. From the gorgeous stationery and signage to the personalised place tags, every detail of the wedding was carefully thought out and beautifully executed by La Cosa Bella Events. The place tags, in particular, were a unique and playful touch- each goes had their caricature drawn on their tag, which added a fun and personalised element to the reception. The flower girls were especially adorable, and wore their floral wreaths as they made their way down the aisle, while carrying some 'Here comes the bride' signs, which added a very cute touch to the ceremony. As guests arrived at the venue, they were greeted with a beautiful space, indoors and out, decorated with stunning floral arrangements. The ceremony took place in the garden, which was a perfect backdrop to exchange their vows. Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a beautiful reception that had amazing food, great music, and plenty of laughter and joy. The tables were adorned with stunning floral arrangements, gorgeous menu cards with calligraphy and gold accents, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere that encouraged guests to relax and dance the night away. It was a truly beautiful and unforgettable even, from the stunning decor to the personal touches that I'm sure the guests continue to enjoy to this day, it was a celebration of love and happiness that will be cherished by everyone for years to come. Recently, we had the pleasure of working on a black time wedding at The Angus Barn in Raleigh, that was truly spectacular. One of the standout features was the glass calligraphy sign that we used for the seating chart (You'll see that stunning photo below, thanks to Ginny Corbett Photography). This unique sign added a modern touch to the overall decor and was an absolutely beautiful way to guide all the family and friends to their tables. Now, the invitation suite. The gold calligraphy on the invitation itself is a bold and beautiful statement. The crest that Theresa created for the couple adds a touch of sophisticated luxury that the couple will be able to use for all the years to come, but the blush undertones soften the overall look. It is a classic and timeless design that perfectly sets the stage for a black tie affair. And of course, we cannot forget about the flowers. With deep reds and gold accents on the napkins with the menus, the floral arrangements tied everything together. Whether they are adorning the ceremony, or displayed on the tables and the fireplace, the flowers are a crucial element in creating a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. It was a joy to work closely with this couple and the remarkable team to bring this special day to life. It is always a pleasure to create something special and unique for a couple's big day, even more so when it is a fusion Hindu and Christian wedding, celebrating both of their cultures. All of the designs we put together for this wonderful couple were elegant and contemporary. The wedding was held at The Carolina Inn with The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, as the perfect backdrop for the couple. We then incorporated reds and golds into the many details, and a clear tent for the outdoor ceremony so the couple could get married under the stars, making the night ever more magical. To anyone planning an Indian wedding, I would encourage you to embrace your heritage and incorporate elements of your culture into your wedding invitations and overall wedding. Whether it's through traditional color schemes, choice of locations, and traditional motifs and food, there are so many ways to make your wedding unique and personal to you. If you would like some help, feel free to reach out. We can make your dream a reality. As the wedding invitation designer, I know that each couple's wedding is unique and special in its own way. I was incredibly excited for this Irish wedding, I knew I was in for a treat. Irish weddings are steeped in tradition and history and is a perfect blend of elegance, beauty, and ruggedness. This family's history had settled into the county of Cork, and brought those elements into their wedding with the family crest and beautiful greens that we incorporated into the programs and signage. When it comes to wedding details, nothing says elegance quite like green velvet. The luxurious fabric has long been associated with Irish royalty and added a touch of regal sophistication to the wedding day. The bridesmaids wore a soft blush that really accentuated the color palette. By incorporating all these elements, they created a celebration that is both traditional and unique that will be memorable for all their guests in the years to come. The wedding invitations, menus, programs and signage all set the tone for the big day. Venue: Barclay Villa
